Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana with Creole roots, the multi-hyphenate Mrs. Jalila Bobb-Semple (affectionately known as "Ma'Doula") is truly a "jill of all trades", With much of her upbringing in Atlanta, Georgia from the age of 19, she has lived throughout the country, contributing to her diverse cultural experience. It's as if she's lived multiple lives in one dimension. With over twenty years of experience in the medical field serving as a CMA-EMT-Behavioral Therapist-Lab Coordinator-Business Administrator-Account Executive, her desire to help people set the stage for her true passion: philanthropy.
Alongside her eldest children, Jalila organized and prepared bagged lunches to feed the homeless all throughout the City of Atlanta, collectively handing out each paper bag that incouded a distinctly special note of encouragement--an idea directly from her daughter.. Her heart for the youth led her into counseling adolescents and young adults at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in Devereux, Georgia, and her deep love for children inspired her to later become a certified doula in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit so she had to pause doula operations, but one year later those skills equipped her to joyously deliver her first grandchild.
Though she obtained degrees and secondary training throughout her journey, she did not stop there. At the age of 21, she attained her cosmetology license which, combined with her barber skills, opened up multiple opportunities throughout her career. Her professionalism, and passions for styling hair, self-care and beautification eventually led to becoming a personal consultant for celebrities in the entertainment industry. Born into a multitalented musical family--which notably includes her legendary, renown singer/songwriter/producer cousin, Angela Winbush--Jalila's acute ear and natural singing ability landed her into studio to record for the first time at the age of 12. She recorded song covers from SWV, TLC, Whitney Houston & Zhane in a group called 'Black Queens' alongside her sister. This eventually led her into artist management and music video direction, even making appearances as the lead in multiple music videos, .From being an artist liaison, preparing dressing rooms and escorting performers for The BET Hip-Hop Awards, to setting stages and serving on set of The Mo'Nique Show (featuring legendary comedienne Mo'Nique), Jalila became a staple behind-the-scenes across the city of Atlanta for her leadership and managerial prowess.
While touring with My Black Is Beautiful, assisting in the launch of Carol's Daughter and being a production assistant on NBC's The Voice. Jalila's naturally-nurturing, mothering aura has assisted so many along her journey. But one of her most personal passions has always been in the kitchen A self-ordained chef at heart, her southern-rooted, Creole cuisine stems from a lineage of culinary masters on both sides of her family. She and her husband decided to make that crucial decision a decade ago, and watching the fruits of their decision exceed expectations is one of the most gratifying things to witness on Earth. The juggling act of being a loving and empathic wife, mother, homeschooler and entrepreneur, all at a young age, was not the easiest rodeo; but she persevered turned lemons into lemonade and her resilience, faith and love have stood the test of time.
